This dog breed was developed in the city of Malines, where it received its interesting name, the Malinois has a common foundation with the Belgian Sheepdog and the Belgian Tervuren. In fact, these Belgian dogs share their own breed standard in all countries except the United States. The original breeders presented the Malinois’ working character, and historically, the breed has been the favorite class of Belgian Shepherd in its native country.
