Dog Language: How to make a dog understand you better

Dogs appeared on the Earth long time before people. They used their voices to express many emotions and information. Crying, barking, growling are the parts of the dog language of your dog, used to communicate with other dogs, and each of it means something special, depending on the voice tone and pitch. Have you ever admitted the variety of sounds, produced by your dog? Sometimes it is even weird, how does a dog may produce that kind of sound.

You may also use various kinds of voice tones in communication with your pet. Dogs are very sensitive to this kind of communication. It is important to combine body language, moves with command producing it in a special tone, to make a dog understand you better. If you will command the same action with the same voice tone, it will be clearer for a dog and your pet will understand you quicker and better. If you tell the same command in a different voice, a dog may be confused.

For example, to make a dog go walking, use cheerful intonation with a phrase "Let's go walking, Dear!" Then your pet perceives high pitch in your voice and the walking will become more positive and pleasant.

Hands Gestures

Combine verbal commands and hand signs - it is one of the best ways to improve the process of dog training and make it more effective. Gestures are very simple and clear for dog understanding, because they are visual. Any command may become more effective, if underlined by hands gestures. Admit, how your dog follows moves of your hands any time you are talking to it or training it. A dog perceives any small hints and gestures expressed by your hands moves.

When you combine commands with gestures, for example "Sit!" and stretch your hand ahead, your dog will get more understanding of the command and what you are expecting.

Many dog trainers teach dogs by means of words and gestures. Gestures also help your pet find understanding with other family members. So, if the voice tone and pitch of people varies, but the gestures are the same, and they will help a dog to understand not only a handler, but other family members as well. It helps also if with age your dog loses its sharp hearing. If a dog is trained to gestures from the puppy age, it will be easier to train it and find understanding even when it becomes old or loses good hearing for some other reasons.

Face Expression and Dog Language

You have probably seen how a dog changes its mood while listening to you. It may turn its head, bend it aside, with a sigh of question in the eyes, with wide "smile", glance in the eyes, when it is intended to play... Dogs use snout and head for mood expression and it resembles people as well. Though we have much more signs and face expressions, than dogs, we may use definite face expressions to make a dog understand you better.

For example, your smile and cheerful words "Good boy(girl)!" with a kind and friendly voice will make your dog understand that you are very pleased with his/her actions. Otherwise, if you are disappointed with his/her actions, make frowning face, shake your hand and tell in a sharp, low pitch tone "Bad dog/ No". It will make a dog understand its bad action.

Dog Body Language

Dogs are masters of body language. They use their body to greet other dogs, not to make them come too close, to play, to fight and to express dominance, leading position. When friendly dogs meet, they jump and play in a friendly manner. On the other hand, when one of the dogs that meet wants to express its leadership and dominance above the other, it pushes another dog and lays its head on the shoulders of another dog.

You may also use body language to communicate with your pet. If you want to encourage your dog, pet and caress it. If your dog is guilty of something, behaves wrong, turn back from him.

Dog Smell Sense

Dogs may learn the outer space, other dogs, people and living beings by means of smell. And they really get a lot of information from this source. All dogs have a very sharp smell sense. Many dogs were intended to be bred for hunting and smell sense is very important for their nature. Turn attention, how much time your dog spends out, smelling something at the ground, smelling almost everything that it sees on the way.

Various smells bring various information. When a dog finds a spot where another dog just have gone to stool, it gets information about the sex, distance of the dog at the moment, and basic information about it.

You may also use dog smell sense for better understanding, combining various smells and commands. When you are making food, the smell of it makes a dog understand, that is is a meal time. When you plan to go out of home, for a couple of hours, you may spread the smell of vanilla, for example. If you will repeat this action each time before leaving ti for a while, a dog will understand that you are going out but come back soon.

Dogs make connection of smells and actions. It makes a dog understand your message, that you are trying to convey.
