Crufts 2013, Birmingham UK - the World Largest Dog Show!

The famous annual international Championship for dogs Crufts with the history of more than 120 years is the largest annual dog show in the world, as declared by Guinness World Records. This is one of the most prestigious Championships in the world. It is traditionally visited by the member of English Royal Family. It is currently held in Birmingham, England, and lasts four days. The Championship takes its name after its founder, Charles Cruft. It is organized and hosted by the Kennel Club. The major role of this event in kennel world we can imagine taking into account the fact, that each year there is a number of 28,000 dogs take part in Crufts, and about 160,000 human visitors attend the show.

It is not easy to take part in hot competing for the title of the Best in Show. Dog must be qualified showing good results (gaining a top-3 place in their class) at a Kennel Club Championship show where Challenge Certificates are awarded.

The most recognized dogs compete in groups according to their breed, gender, age and previous class wins: Veteran, Special Puppy, Special Junior, Yearling, Post Graduate, Mid Limit, Limit, and Open. In each class there is a bitch and a dog winner. Then the winners dog and bitch of each class compete to win the Dog and Bitch Challenge Certificate (CC). Then the two winners compete with each other for the title of the Best of Breed.

The Best in Show dog winners are awarded with a replica of the solid silver Keddall Memorial Trophy. The breeder of the winner is honored and recognized with great respect almost as a national hero and becomes famous.
